Five jumbo bags for the bulky things that eat a whole shelf — winter coats, spare duvets, the bedding you only use when people stay. Fill one, zip it, then pull the air out through the valve with the hand pump. What was a heap becomes a flat slab you can slide under a bed or stack in the top of a wardrobe.

Each bag is 80 × 60cm, which takes a king-size duvet or roughly four adult coats. The pump is included, so there is nothing to buy separately and no vacuum cleaner needed — useful if you are doing this in a bedroom rather than next to a plug.

Good to know

How do I clean it?

Glass bodies and silicone seals wash normally. Hand-wash any wooden lid and dry it straight away; a dishwasher dries the wood out and splits it.
