Why the valve matters

Fresh beans need to breathe

Coffee keeps giving off carbon dioxide for days after roasting. Seal it in straight away and pressure builds against the lid. Leave the bag open instead and the aroma walks out.

The one-way valve in this lid lets the gas escape for the first three to five days, then closes to a full airtight seal. It is the difference between coffee that tastes roasted and coffee that tastes old.

Delivery is free on every order, with no minimum spend, and we dispatch within 2 working days.

How long it then takes depends on where the item is stocked, so we show a date range on every product page rather than one promise for everything. Most of our range ships directly from the makers and takes 15 to 30 days. A few items are held in a UK warehouse and arrive inside a week — the CO₂ coffee canister is one of those.

Returns

You have 30 days from delivery to change your mind, which is longer than the 14 days the law requires. Changed your mind and you cover return postage; faulty, damaged or not as described and we cover everything. Message us before posting anything back so we can confirm the right address. What is it made of?

The coffee canister is high borosilicate glass, rated from −20°C to 100°C, with a silicone sealing ring and a press-button lid.

The storage jars are clear glass with a solid wooden screw lid and a silicone gasket.

How do I clean it?

Hand-wash the wooden lids in warm water and dry them straight away. Keep them out of the dishwasher, or the wood will dry out and split.

The glass bodies and the silicone rings are fine to wash normally.

Which size do I need?

Every jar is 9.5cm across, so only the height changes: 250ml is 7.3cm tall, 350ml is 10.3cm, 650ml is 15.3cm, 950ml is 20.3cm, 1250ml is 25.3cm and 1550ml is 30.3cm.

The coffee canister is a separate 1.7L size, 24.8cm tall and 11.2cm across, and holds roughly 600g of whole beans.
